Finishing a Doctor of Forensic Science (DFS) at Oklahoma State University, her research focuses on decomposition, forensic entomology, and DNA/STR-based human identification, utilizing advanced statistical modeling. This scholarship, combined with an M.S. in Forensic Science and a B.A. in Anthropology, ensures a deep, comprehensive understanding of the field. As an Instructor of Forensic Science at the University of South Alabama, Cathryne has designed and delivered multiple full courses, including Forensic Testimony, Death Investigation, Crime Scene Processing, Mass Casualty Events, and other Special Topics. Her innovative approach includes building HyFlex and online versions complete with full assessments, labs, and case studies, demonstrating a rigorous dedication to effective teaching.

As a biology and forensic science teacher, she developed inquiry-based labs, human identification modules, and mass casualty & ethics content. Her influence extends to advisory roles, serving as a Forensic Science Subject Matter Expert for the Department of Political Science & Criminal Justice and an Advisory Board member redesigning forensic programs.
